Making it in the Big Apple

by Sherria

If I can make it there, I’ll  make it anywhere.”                                      Famous lines from the theme song of Martin Scorsese’s film “New York, New York”

After an emotional farewell dinner with friends last week, twenty-four hours of rapid packing, and an “almost” altercation with a Harlem drunk while moving in, I’m finally here, in my Manhattan apartment. Feels good! Now that A*cute has expanded to the Big Apple, Jackie and I can tackle the fashion industry from two important U.S. cities.

Since you all have developed a rapport with my writing for over a year now, you know what I’m all about: HAIR. So, the first thing I must do in this city before I start work tomorrow is find a Hair Salon. I’m starting my search now and I’ll let you know what I find by tomorrow. This brillo pad I call hair will be sleek and straight by sun-down. I’ll check back in with you all soon.

  1. So proud of your move, girl! 🙂 I don’t care what anyone says, New Yorkers are most kind, cultured, friendly, and fly beings in the world so I hope my city treats you well! See u soon! xoxo

  2. You will undoubtedly shine even brighter than ever in NYC! I love and miss you, and know that you will fall in love with the city. You should just look up an Aveda salon and go there so you know that the products will be quality and because you’re already familiar with them.
