Leather Skirt Friday!

by Sherria

Good News Friends….It’s ALMOST Friday!!!  I know it’s still Thursday, but you should start thinking good thoughts (i.e., what sort of cute ensemble can I throw together to wear to the office on  Friday?). As stated in previous posts, “Casual Friday” at work is not a time to slack off and show up in your pajama jeans. Use “Casual Friday” as a day to show off your casual sense of style. A few of my co-workers started “jean shirt” Fridays. Almost everyone in our 6-cubicle section wears chambray shirts to work on Fridays. To dress up a chambray shirt, try a floral or leather skirt and heels to match. One of my supervisors has a leather skirt (I have one too!) that she wore to work a few weeks ago. Upon first glance in the store, I wouldn’t dare think about wearing it to work. However, my supervisor’s leather skirt is almost knee length and she wore black tights and a blazer to give the outfit a more polished look. Needless to say, the woman was on fire! She looked so cute, yet still work appropriate. Below is an inspirational board that mix and matches “jean shirt” Friday and a black leather skirt.  What are you wearing this Friday?

Shopping for Houndstooth

by Sherria

“Can I borrow your black and white checkered scarf?” That’s what I used to say to my mother as a teenager when I wanted to borrow her wool houndstooth scarf in the winter. Now that I know the pattern is called houndstooth, it makes it much easier for me to go into the store and tell the sales woman the exact print that I’m looking for 🙂

As I browsed through the mall in Long Island a few weeks ago, I noticed that a few store windows displayed their mannequins in houndstooth patterns for the fall, such as Forever 21, Joe Fresh, and Banana Republic. Hey, even Strawberry is up on the trend! Instead of shopping in my mother’s closet for houndstooth this fall, I’m thinking of picking a few items for myself at the store. The houndstooth pattern looks exceptionally well with bright colors, as you can see in the image below of the yellow top paired with a houndstooth skirt from Banana Republic. Below are a few of my top choices for the fall. What do you think?

Banana Republic

Houndstooth pencil skirt, $89.50

Ashley bow ballet flat, $98

Houndstooth slim sweater, $69.50

Joe Fresh

Houndstooth Silk Shirt, $49

Tweed Pump, $79

Hooundstooth Dress, $49

Make Celeb Style ‘Work’ For You

by Sherria

As many of you know, celebrities usually wear outfits that we could never wear to work. Lately, however, paparazzi cameras have spotted stars dressed in ‘normal’ classy outfits that can be a source of inspiration for your everyday work wear. I spotted the three celebs below on People Style Watch. Do you think these outfits are an office hit or miss?

Celebrity Chic to Work Geek: Jennifer Hudson

By Sherria

By the time I finish viewing multiple celebrity gossip blogs a day, I’m a little upset because either can’t afford to buy the clothes celebrities wear or I’m irritated that the only time I can wear those styles are at the club. But being the A*cute girl that I am, I figured, “why not try to find some sort of way to translate those celebrity styles into work appropriate gear?” So, here we are! I found this picture of Jennifer Hudson on Theybf.com yesterday. I loved the pink and black, of course, they are A*cute colors! But I also loved how the skirt really popped against Jennifer Hudson’s skin. I found a longer pink skirt on Modcloth.com that could turn this celebrity outfit into an office ensemble. I would probably wear a black turtle neck with a long silver necklace with this skirt. I know there are some other clothing stores with pink skirts, so if you find one, comment on A*cute and let me know where you purchased it.
